Duisburg....our days with Angelica and Peter are punctuated with visits to the local sights, great home-made dinners and cozy breakfasts with fresh rolls, American top hits playing in the kitchen and the gentle movement of the conversation from German to English back to German. We found a comfortable rhythm with the Frankes and were sad to hit the road. Strolling through the Love Parade site gave us an appreciation of the depth of this tragedy. Candles are still burning, 5 weeks after the event. We visited the oldest church in Duisburg where the service for Love Parade victims had been held. Melissa and I are a bit haunted by the avoidability of the tragedy. It seems to have been such a senseless loss.
Peter and Angelica enjoy beating us repeatably at the card game "Golf".
We are off to the Rhine and the castles!!!!!
